The Muskingum University Athletic Department has named Jake Krupar Muskingum baseball head coach.
Krupar arrives back in New Concord after one season as an assistant coach for the Butler University baseball program. At Butler, Krupar coached the outfielders and was the baserunning coordinator and assistant hitting coach. He was the first base coach during games and directed Butler's youth camp initiatives. Furthermore, Krupar was responsible for game day management, recruiting, community service efforts, and fundraising.
In Krupar's first season at the helm, he led the program to it's first 20-win season since 2010. The Muskies finished the year 22-18, and also saw three players named All-OAC honorees.
Before Butler, Krupar was the director of player development at Wofford College. He helped lead the team to its first-ever regular season Southern Conference Championship. The Terriers won 36 games, including a school record of 21 wins in conference play. Additionally, Krupar was responsible for implementing the Synergy video system and assisting the coaching staff with statistical analysis and player development.
Before Wofford, Krupar spent two seasons on the Muskingum baseball staff as an assistant coach. He was responsible for coaching the Muskie batters and outfielders while also serving as the recruiting coordinator. Krupar was Muskingum's head JV coach and strength and conditioning coordinator and developed the social media presence for the Muskie baseball program.
Before arriving at Muskingum, Krupar served as an assistant coach at Baldwin Wallace University. While with the Yellow Jackets, he worked with multiple All-OAC players as the team won the conference tournament and advanced to the NCAA Regional. He assisted in practices, recruiting, and coached the JV team. His duties also included coaching outfielders and assisting with hitters, camps, and video coordination.
Furthermore, Krupar worked as an assistant coach with the Stark County Terriers collegiate baseball team in the summer of 2017.
Before coaching, Krupar was a four-year letterwinner for the University of Toledo baseball program. He helped lead the Rockets to the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Tournament for three straight years and earned Academic All-MAC honors in 2017 and the Scholar Baller Award from 2014-2017.
A native of East Sparta, Ohio, Krupar graduated from Toledo in 2017 with a B.S. in criminal justice and completed his master's degree in education at Muskingum in 2020.
Michael Jacob joined the Muskingum baseball program in the summer of 2023 as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.
Jacob was a four-year letterman and standout pitcher for the University of Toledo baseball program. Toledo competes at the NCAA Division I level in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). Jacob ranks fourth all-time in the Rockets' record book in single-season appearances with 25 and single-season saves with eight. In his four years at Toledo, Jacob struck out 192 batters throughout 231.1 career innings while also amassing 14 career saves, which ranks fifth all-time at Toledo. He also led the team in strikeouts with 71 during the 2019 campaign. Jacob helped lead the Rockets to MAC Tournament appearances for three straight seasons.
Before arriving in New Concord, Jacob spent the previous three seasons as the pitching coach for St. Clairsville High School. During his time with the Red Devils, Jacob helped guide St. Clairsville to OHSAA playoff appearances each year, coaching multiple all-district players. He was also the head JV coach during his time at St Clairsville.
A native of St Clairsville, Ohio, Jacob graduated from Toledo in 2019, where he double majored with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in professional sales and finance.
Tate Engle joined the Muskingum baseball program as an assistant coach in the summer of 2023.
Before arriving in New Concord, Engle served as an assistant coach for the Beverly-Lowell Legion Baseball Team since 2021.
Engle began his collegiate career at OAC rival Marietta College, where he hit .346 in 10 games in a COVID shortened 2020 season. Engle then transferred to Hocking College, where he competed for two years at the NJCAA level before finishing his playing career at DII Malone University in 2023.
Engle earned his associate's in Sports Management from Hocking College in 2022 and his bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Malone University in 2023.
James Dickson will be entering his first year as the student manager for the Muskingum baseball program.
Dickson is responsible for assisting the coaching staff during practices and games. He will also assist in charting and analytics for the team.
Dickson, a junior from Cincinnati, Ohio, is a sport administration major.
